About Mary Wheeler Ms. Wheeler was born and raised in Kansas, but has lived most of her life in Newport, Rhode Island. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Music Education and from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Landscape Architecture. Ms. Wheeler has worked in a variety of fields including as a restaurateur, music educator, landscape architect, and financial analyst. Ms. Wheeler is certified as a Holistic Counselor after attending the Expressive Arts Institute at Salve University in Newport, RI. She is the author and illustrator of several children’s books which are inspired by the ocean that surrounds her and the antics of her seven grandchildren. Ms. Wheeler currently lives in an 1894 Japanese Arts and Crafts home which she and her husband are in the process of restoring. And of course she and her husband have help from their two dogs and their cats Max and Midnight occasionally. This house is part of another book, soon to be published.
